On Monday, May 8, construction began at the Interstate 35/U.S. Highway 30 interchange east of Ames. Throughout the duration of the construction, southbound vehicles on I-35 will not be able to exit to westbound Highway 30. To save you time, we’ve done detour homework!- Drivers coming from the north using I-35 – take Exit 113 to 13th Street- Drivers coming from the east using Highway 30 – take Exit 148 to SE 16th Avenue According to Jesse Tibodeau, an engineer with Iowa Department of Transportation, the detour should come to an end before fall of this year. We look forward to the finished project for our community as the new ramp is intended to “create a safer, more efficient interchange.”
