Jeep has patterned many of its commercial vehicles after the design of the military Jeep that helped the United States emerge victorious in the Second World War. The Wagoneer, which was a mainstay of Jeep’s lineup for much of the 20th century, was no exception. Its rugged design won over many drivers in the Ames, IA area and beyond. The vehicle was discontinued some years ago, but Jeep has since revived it for the 2022 model year. Now, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are poised to bring a whole new generation of Americans into Jeep’s fold.

We have already compared the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in a previous post. This article will instead focus on the Series III models, which are the luxury versions of already luxurious vehicles. Boone drivers who want a durable Jeep that is packed with luxury features should consider both of these cars.

The Basics

The Grand Wagoneer Series III is a three-row luxury SUV with seating for up to eight people. The Wagoneer Series III is a two-row luxury SUV that seats up to five. Both of these vehicles are rugged and will perform well whether you’re taking the family on a weekend trip with the family boat in tow, or exploring what lies beyond paved roads.

The Wagoneer Series III has a 5.7L V8 engine that makes 392 horsepower. 4×2 drive is standard, but 4×4 is an available option for those Marshalltown drivers who want to take their Wagoneer over rough ground. The Grand Wagoneer Series III, for its part, features a 6.4L V8 that puts out 471 horsepower! This model is only available in 4×4. Both of these vehicles pack quite the punch. The Wagoneer Series III can tow up to 10,000 pounds and its big brother can haul up to 9,850. It’s interesting that the smaller Wagoneer has a higher towing capacity; such are the oddities of engineering.

Luxury Features

The Grand Wagoneer Series III has a number of standard features that are options, or in some cases not available, for the Series I, Series II, or Obsidian trims. These include natural walnut wood interior accents, Night Vision with pedestrian and animal detection, Jeep’s Intersection Collision Avoidance System, an Advanced Security Alert System, the Highway Assist System, Rear Seat Monitoring Camera, a Front-Console Cooler, Front Passenger Interactive Display, and Quilted Palermo Leather-trimmed massage seats.

The Wagoneer Series III similarly enjoys standard features that are not found on the other Wagoneer trims. These include heated rear seats and Jeep’s Heads-Up Display. The Series III also has available features like a souped-up speaker system that are not available on other trims. Neither of these lists are exhaustive – the Series III truly is a luxury trim.

Which SUV is right for you?

Both the Wagoneer Series III and the Grand Wagoneer Series III are luxury vehicles that offer utility and comfort to Des Moines, IA area drivers. The Grand Wagoneer is the larger of the two, and might therefore be the right choice for those with large families, or who regularly need to pack their vehicle full of cargo. The Wagoneer is a spacious vehicle that can comfortably fit five, and is a great choice for anyone looking for a vehicle that blends style with performance and durability.
