2023 Dodge Hornet vs 2024 Dodge Hornet: What’s the Difference?

There are no changes in the 2024 Dodge Hornet when compared with the 2023 Dodge Hornet, except for the one elephant in the room: the Dodge Hornet is now offered in a plug-in hybrid model. With boosted horsepower and fuel economy, the Dodge Hornet R/T is not a car to miss.

Interior

To start, you may notice that there’s something distinctly sporty about the steering wheel of the Dodge Hornet. You’d be correct in noticing that because it’s the same steering wheel used in Alfa Romeo cars (just with a Dodge logo). After that, it’s all great, with a range of seating texture options from cloth to leather with red accents.

While it doesn’t have quite as much cargo space as other compact SUVs on the market, it makes up for that with its elegant qualities and mass of standard features. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard on all Dodge Hornet models. In addition, the relatively spacious screen real estate between the 10.1” infotainment screen and the 12.3” digital gauge display means you’ll be ready for the road without having to touch the screen constantly to see something else.

Exterior

The outside of the Dodge Hornet is one of the things that makes it truly unique. The Hornet’s sleek styling is debatably best in class, with elegant, nimble, aerodynamic curves everywhere on the vehicle.

Powertrain and Performance

Gone is the 2023 Dodge Hornet, and here is the 2024 Dodge Hornet. With the new model comes an entirely new available powertrain on every 2024 Dodge Hornet.

While the standard Dodge Hornet still makes the same 268 horsepower through its turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic transmission, the plug-in hybrid model uses two engines to outperform this powertrain. With one electric engine and one 1.3L turbocharged four-cylinder, the plug-in hybrid Dodge Hornet has more horsepower, has a significantly greater MPGe, and is available in all-wheel drive just like the gas versions on a six-speed automatic transmission.

Among the best parts of the Dodge Hornet are the different drive modes standard on all models of the Dodge Hornet. With zippy acceleration, there are few times you wouldn’t want to be in sport mode, given how much fun it is to drive. Additionally, for the plug-in hybrid Dodge Hornet, you can use the PowerShot feature by pulling both paddle shifters. This unlocks an extra 30 horsepower from the electric motor and has a snappy, thrilling feel.

Trim Levels and Packages

One thing Dodge does well with the Hornet is keep the options simple; drivers don’t need to choose between a ton of archaic trim levels and can still get exactly what they need and nothing they don’t.

2024 Dodge Hornet GT and 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T

The base GT trim resembles the plug-in hybrid base R/T trim for the 2024 Dodge Hornet. Despite being the base trim, both still have relatively opulent features standard, like rain-detecting wipers, premium leather steering wheel, wireless phone connectivity, and the same-size infotainment display as higher trims.

However, there is a reason the higher trims exist; on the GT, the seats lack lumbar support, are cloth-lined, and are manually adjustable, among other things. Still, this remains an excellent budget option with loads of features for a base model.

2024 Dodge Hornet GT Plus and 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T Plus

The inside of the 2024 Dodge Hornet GT Plus and the 2024 Dodge Hornet R/T Plus are nearly identical. Inside, you’ll find all front seats fully power adjustable with all leather seating. What’s more, is the premium eight-speaker audio system to fully enjoy your tunes while on the road. Essentially, the Plus trims take the 2024 Dodge Hornet from a regular vehicle to the brink of luxury.

Track Pack The track package is available on all trim levels, which is fitting given their similarities in performance. With the track pack, the dual-mode suspension allows you to get closer to the ground when you need it for increased performance. It also comes with sporty 20” wheels, Alacantra Sport Seating, red-painted Dodge calipers, and aluminum pedals.	Tech Pack The tech pack makes the 2024 Dodge Hornet the ultimate safety machine. Blacktop Package The Blacktop Package makes the already sleek Dodge Hornet into something truly slick. With 18” black wheels, black side window moldings, black mirror caps, and black badging, you’ll be make a statement in your Dodge Hornet.	Cold Weather Package It will be difficult for many drivers to resist the Cold Weather Package. It’s got what you’d expect, with a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, and a remote start system installed straight from the factory.

You don’t need to get the Tech Pack for the Dodge Hornet to be a pinnacle of safety. Standard on all 2024 Dodge Hornet models are automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane departure warning with lane-keep assist.
