The 2019 RAM 1500 has taken the American truck market by storm, bringing unprecedented luxury features, comfort, and power. But with so many powertrains, trim levels, and configurations, it can be difficult to know which 2019 RAM 1500 to choose for your needs. We're going to look at some of our favorite trim levels and features to help you find the right RAM 1500 for you.

2019 RAM 1500 - Trim Levels Explained

We're going to look at some of the most popular trim levels for the 2019 RAM 1500, and describe the features that set each trim apart.

  • Tradesman - The RAM 1500 Tradesman stays true to its name, and offers the most basic set of features in the RAM 1500 lineup. However, it's not as barebones as many of its competitors, sticking with RAM's trademark coil-spring suspension and other desirable features. These include: automatic headlights, locking tailgate, hitch receiver, trailer sway control, heated mirrors, cruise control, air conditioning, rearview camera, a 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, and a six-speaker audio system.
  • Big Horn - The Big Horn adds features that will lead most buyers to choose it over the Tradesman when looking for an affordable entry to RAM's impressive full-size pickup. These include alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, and foglights. But more importantly, the Big Horn offers more options, such as an upgraded infotainment system with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, off-road equipment, and side steps.

  • Rebel - If you're into off-roading, or just like knowing your truck can handle anything in its path, the Rebel is likely to be your favorite trim level on the 2019 RAM 1500. Not only does it have distinctive styling, it has the heavy-duty off-road equipment to back it up. This includes off-road tires, tow hooks, skid plates, special shocks & suspension, electronic locking rear axle, 3.92 axle ratio, and hill descent control.
  • Laramie - This is where the 2019 RAM 1500's renowned luxury really kicks in. Start with leather interior, and add keyless entry, parking sensors, heated & ventilated seats, driver memory, LED lights, and more. It can also be had with a seriously upgraded sound system, bringing an 8.4 inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and nine speakers.
  • Longhorn - The Longhorn takes the Laramie's luxury features and takes them up a notch. Owners of the RAM 1500 Longhorn will get 20-inch alloy wheels, spray-in bedliner, chrome side steps, power tailgate release, automatic high beams & wipers, upgraded leather upholstery, heated and ventilated reclining rear seats, leather-wrapped wood steering wheel, and a navigation system. "Creature comforts" doesn't quite do the Longhorn justice.
  • Limited - If you want truly top of the line, it's time to zero in on the 2019 RAM 1500 Limited. The Limited is not just the top of the range for RAM, it's the most luxurious pickup truck ever made. Premium leather upholstery makes its presence known, and the Limited also comes with auto-adjusting air suspension as standard, making RAM's legendary ride quality even better. It also adds safety features as standard, as well as power steps for ease of entry.

Powertrains & Options

All the trims available can be had with either the standard 3.6l V6 at 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, or with the all-new 5.7-liter V8 at 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come with RAM's new eTorque system, which improves both efficiency and power delivery. Properly equipped, the 2019 RAM 1500 can tow up to 12,750 lbs, making it the class leader for V8 towing. This is due not only to advanced towing technology, but also the RAM 1500's rigid steel construction and unique suspension.

Other options include a 12 inch touchscreen (the largest in its class), RAM's beloved RamBox, bed lighting, cosmetic upgrades, and a wealth of advanced safety features. Did you notice we've said "best in class" and "class-leading" quite a few times in this breakdown? There's a reason that MotorTrend named the 2019 RAM 1500 its Truck of the Year. There's really nothing out there that compares right now, and it shows in both the standard and optional features.
