The 2018 RAM 2500 is available in with either rear-wheel drive or part-time four-wheel-drive, seven trim levels (Tradesman, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited and Power Wagon), three cab styles (a two-door regular cab, a four-door crew cab, and a four-door Mega Cab), two bed lengths (8 feet and 6 feet 4 inches), three engines, two transmissions and four appearance packages.

Most RAM 2500s come standard with the 5.7-liter V8 gasoline engine delivering 383 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. A modified version of this engine, producing identical power figures, runs on compressed natural gas (CNG) and is only available on the regular and crew-cab models with the 8-foot bed.

The two available engines include the Heavy-Duty 6.4-liter V8 HEMI delivering 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, and the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel I6 with 350 horsepower and 660 lb-ft when paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and 370 horsepower and 800 lb-ft of torque when paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.
